Sigma Paints finalised first IMO PSPC newbuild with Nexeon-antifouling

Sigma Paints is pleased to congratulate Mubarak Marine on the launch of the multi-purpose offshore supply vessel “Mubarak Spirit”. The 64.8 mtr long ship is the first IMO PSPC-compliant newbuilding in the Middle East that is fully coated by Sigma Paints. In 2015, Sigma Paints received IMO PSPC approval for water ballast tank coatings originating from its Dammam factory. The IMO PSPC certification of the factory will help Sigma Paints to maintain its market leadership in the Middle Eastern newbuilding market.

The Mubarak Spirit will enjoy the benefits of PPG’s unique range of copper-free antifoulings that have shown unrivalled performance in aggressive conditions, such as over prolonged idle periods. For the outfitting period, Sigma Nexeon 750, specifically developed for long idle periods, was applied as a final coat. Prior to the final coat of Sigma Nexeon 750, Sigma Nexeon 710 was applied to prevent the ship from fouling once in service.

Sigma Paints presented Dubai Shipbuilding with a token of appreciation after a pleasant and fruitful cooperation.
